Free Thai visas again

The Thai embassy has recommenced the visa fee exemption given to Sri Lankans to visit Thailand from June 25 this year and it will be valid till March 4 next year, according to the Information Department of the embassy. The exemption of the visa fee of Rs 4,000 for the first time attracted 13,481 people and 12,523 of them were given free visas to visit Thailand.

The embassy received over five-hundred applications per day for visas under this scheme compared to 200 applications received prior to the exemption.

The first exemption was given from March 5 to June 4 this year. From June 4 to 25 the embassy received only hundred applications per day.

The exemption was extended at the request of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. RK
