Will Kandy take the lead?

Who will remain unbeaten is anybody's guess at the end of this
Sunday's key clash between Kandy Sports Club and CD & FC in the final
first round clash of the Caltex Rugby League tournament match which will
be played at Longden Place in Colombo.
Kandy Sports Club have an impeccable record in the Caltex League
rugby tournament having not lost a match since 2004. Their last defeat
was in the hands of CR & FC in the year 2004 at Longden Place and since
then they have virtually steamrolled over their opponents in this
tournament. Thus they will go all out to preserve this record.
The table of points shows that both teams have an equal number of
points and Kandy SC head the table by virtue of having gained more bonus
points. Thus a win in this match will help them to march over their arch
rivals or a step closer to the title as they will be hard to beat in the
return game which will be played at Nittawela. Kandy SC led by Pradeep
Liyanage will be at full strength with the return of centre three
quarter Gayan Weeraratne and flanker Sean Wijesinghe. Only centre three
quarter Mohammed Sheriff will not be available due to injuries but his
absence will not be felt much as Weeraratne returns to the side after
the serious injury which he sustained three weeks ago.
When the final whistle is blown on Sunday evening, it will be known
who is the King after an exciting battle. |
