Chief Inspector, servant killed in road mishap

A Chief Inspector and his servant were killed in a road mishap in Gotakawela yesterday afternoon. His wife, three children and a female servant were critically injured in the incident.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said OIC B. Gunaratne attached to the Foreshore police station travelling with his family on a pilgrimage in Kataragama met with the accident when his vehicle skidded off the road. The OIC and his servant were killed on the spot.

He said that the incident had occurred along the Ratnapura- Embilipitiya road around 12.30 pm.

The injured were being treated at Pallebedda hospital.
