Storage complex for Education Publication Dept

The handing over of the title deed to set up a storage complex for the Education Publication Department (EPD) took place between Education Minister Susil Premajayantha and Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardana at the Parliament Complex.

EPD Publication Commissioner W.M.N.J. Pushpakumar and UDA Director General Prasanna Silva were also present.

The EPD has purchased a land from the Urban Development Authority at a cost of Rs.44 million to setup a storage facility at Pitipana, Homagama.

The total cost of the storage complex is Rs. 289 million and Rs. 50 million will be initially spent to construct the building.

The consolidated fund will contribute Rs. 25 million while the World Bank will fund the balance Rs. 25 million.

A five acre land has been acquired for the storage complex where five warehouses are to be constructed. Following the construction of the new complex, the Ministry will be able to save Rs. 1.8 million monthly.
