Moods of Colour

Moods of Colour, an exhibition of enchanting paintings by 12 year old Savithri Jayanetti, will take place from July 3-5 at the Lionel Wendt. On display will be over 130 paintings composed using acrylics, oils, glass and ink.

Though still a child, Savithri's artistic talents are clearly evident in her eye for form and her fine coloursense. She has painted a remarkable array of subjects including landscapes, seascapes, birds, butterflies, animals, village life, sunsets, flowers, dancers and cultural pageants. She has also composed figures using geometric shapes and created some striking paintings combining the letters in alphabets like Hindi, Roman, English, Sinhala, Arabic, Japanese and even Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Savithri is a student of Asian International School and studied art under Ms. Rhuani Rambukwella of the Hardy Centre of Art. She had displayed an interest for art since her very young days and has been studying the subject for around 6 years. She is also talented in sports and dance, and has performed quite well academically too. She has a remarkable fondness for pets, and her home is a little zoo with a dog, rabbits, tortoises, lovebirds and ornamental fish.

Moods of Colour is Savithri's first exhibition and will include her output over the past two years. All proceeds will go to assist the children of disabled soldiers.
