Applied Science, Business and Research Symposium

The Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka is organizing the Applied Science, Business and Industrial Research Symposium (ASBIRES)-2009 in the fields of Business and Industry to mark the 10th anniversary of the University at Kuliyapitiya premises from 9.00 a.m. on June 25 (Thursday).

Symposium coordinator Dr. K.D.D.N. Dissanayake said the fourth Year undergraduates of the Faculty will present their research findings in respect of the subject areas of Computing and Information Systems, Electronics, Industrial Management, Mathematics and Statistics, under the theme 'Today's exploration for a better industry, tomorrow'.

Kelaniya University Industrial Management Department Senior Lecturer Dr. Julian Nanayakkara will deliver the keynote address. Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.N.F. Perera and Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Faculty of Applied Sciences Dean Dr. E.M.P. Ekanayake will preside.


Intern medical officers appointment

Medical graduates recruited to local universities in 2002/03 and Medical graduates of foreign universities, who have passed the exam ERPM ACT-16 will be given Internship Appointments.

Medical Graduates are requested to call at the National Blood Centre Auditorium, Narahenpita at 9.30 a.m. on June 22 to submit applications for the appointments as follows.

Merit Position 01-400 from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. 401-600 from 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., 601 718 from 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m., foreign graduates 719-784 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Applicants graduated in foreign universities are requested to bring with them the original and a photocopy of the certificate of the temporary registration in the Sri Lanka Medical Council, Certificate of Birth, National Identity Card, the letter granting approval for the Degree by the Sri Lanka Medical Council in case of foreign medical graduates.


Quality assurance toolkit launch

The launching ceremony of the 'Quality Assurance Toolkit', which comes under the purview of the Distance Higher Education Institutions and Programs will be held under the patronage of Higher Education Minister Prof. Wiswa Warnapala and President and CEO-UNESCO Publications Sir John Daniel on June 22 at 9.00 a.m. at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 07.
