CHAMINDA PERERA and ASELA KURULUWANSA
Certain elements in the country are involved in obstructing the
government’s program to attract foreign funds for the development of the
country after terrorism was completely eradicated, said the Mahanayake
of the Asgiri chapter Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Thera .
The Most Ven. Thera said the country is in the process of being
developed by the Government after terrorism was completely wiped out
from the country.
“The People should not forget how youth of underprivileged families
in rural villages came forward to protect the country. The people of all
communities should extend their fullest support to the Government for
the uplift of displaced civilians in the north,” the Most Ven Thera
said.
The Most Ven Thera said the country will not have to seek donor funds
if the business community discharges their duty for the country by
paying income taxes to the government properly. The program carried out
by President Mahinda Rajapaksa with his brothers led to the creation of
a peaceful country, the Most Ven Thera said.
The Mahanayake Thera made these observations when new Inland Revenue
Department’s Commissioner General Mahinda Medagoda called on him and
received his blessings at the Asgiri Mahaviharaya in Kandy yesterday.
The people irrespective of their racial, cultural or political
affiliations should strengthen President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s hand to
completely destroy the remnants of terrorism from the country.
“The Government has launched a number of development projects in the
country. A massive development is inevitable if President’s program is
implemented curtailing unnecessary expenses,” the Most Ven Thera said.
Medagoda also called on the Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatta Chapter
Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sidhartha Sumangala Thera and received his
blessings. |
