Moves are under way by the Education Ministry in line with the Api
Vavamu Rata Nagamu food production program of the Agriculture Ministry
to hold nine agriculture exhibitions throughout the country aiming to
motivate among the younger generation towards agriculture.
Nine agriculture exhibitions will be held in the nine provinces.
These exhibitions will educate students and elders about modern and
traditional trends, technology and ways and means of improving income in
agriculture while motivating visitors to cultivation.
Under these exhibitions schoolchildren will be educated about the
value of cultivation. Increasing the enthusiasm for cultivation is the
best way to lead students towards cultivation, Education Minister Susil
Premajayantha said.
“We are capable of cultivating every inch of cultivable land .
Therefore students will be encouraged to cultivation through
exhibitions, seminars and other agriculture based programs.
It is a must since we need to develop the country which has been
lagging behind for over three decades owing to LTTE terrorism,” Minister
Premajayantha said.
The aim of agricultural exhibitions is to create a habit of
cultivation which would help Sri Lanka to win the food production war
