Linda Harris overall champion

Expatriate Linda Harris with a Nett score of 70 became the Overall Winner at the monthly medal golf championship of Victoria Golf and Country Resort and worked off at the Victoria Golf course at Rajawella off Kandy.

Linda Harris who is a regular player at victoria won her first major medal at Victoria after regular participation. Linda played to a handicap of 23.

Sonia Boyle a regular winner at Victoria won the Ladies gross medal with a gross score of 90 which was indeed a good score in the wake of a course made challenging and difficult for the golfers to add to the excitement.

Lillian Perera playing to a handicap of 36 at last came good when she won the Ladies Nett title with a nett score of 83.

Sirath Kasthuriratne, a very good golfer with experience in playing in many golf course in the United Kingdom and was in fine fettle four years, got back the glimpses of his old form when he won the Men’s Division two Nett competition for handicappers between 11 to 28 with a Nett score of 77, playing to a handicap of 16.

Sirath Kasthuriratne is a good trier and plays regularly at Victoria and at one time was the Lectra Grand Champion. Now that he is back in form, he should pose a serious threat to other golfers.

Staffan Hansson the Division I Nett title for handicappers between 10 to 12 with a Nett score of 74 and he played to a handicap of 74.

The Nett medal winner was Sam Gunaratne who got an excellent Nett 72 playing to a handicap of 11. Sam Gunaratne who took to golf only around 4 years has displayed tremendous improvement and regular practices has been the key note for his success.Eighteen year old Chamil Wickremasinghe after a brief lay off once again displayed good form to carry away the Mens gross medal with a gross score of 81.
