Holcim FA Cup round 4 commenced

Seven matches were completed in the ongoing Holcim FA Cup Championship over the weekend with the eighth game ended abruptly when the players of the Super Beach team walked off the ground after 20 minutes of play disagreeing with a decision from the referee.

The disciplinary committee is due to conduct an early inquiry. The opposing team for Super Beach SC in this game was Don Bosco SC. At the time of the abrupt end Kalutara team was in the lead 1-0.

The game between Red Sun SC, Gampola and Kalutara Park SC too was filled with many incidents where the referee involved had to pull out the warning card on six occasions and had to use the red card on a Red Sun CC player. Kalutara Park SC won the game 3-1.

The next highlight was produced by the Negombo Youth SC when they scored six goals against Youngsters SC at Kandana. In the meantime Jupiters SC from Negombo had to bow out of the tourney when they beaten by Old Bens SC on a penalty tie breaker after the game ended in a one all draw at Kotahena.

The three teams to register wins were Java Lane SC, Navy SC, Renown SC and New Young SC from Wennappuwa with losers being Middlesex SC, Serendib SC, Pelicans SC and Cooray SC.

Results

Old Bens beat Jupiters SC 4-3. Kalutara Park SC beat Red Sun SC 3-1, Negombo Youth SC beat Youngsters SC 6-2, Java Lane SC beat Middlesex SC 2-0, Renown SC beat Serendib SC 1-0, New Young SC beat Pelicans SC 2-0, Navy SC beat Cooray SC 2-0. (BP)
