Honorary Degrees for President, Defence Secretary and others

The Sri Jayewardenepura University Senate has decided to confer honorary degrees (D. Litt and DSc.) on President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary, Security Forces Chiefs, the IGP and the Civil Security Service Director General in appreciation of the leadership given and the services rendered towards reuniting the country under a single flag after eliminating the scourge of terrorism which engulfed the nation for over three decades, said Vice Chancellor Dr. N. L. A. Karunaratne.

An honorary degree will also be conferred on Senor Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa, MP in appreciation of the contribution made by him to develop the North and East through the Uthuru Vasanthaya and the Negenahira Navodaya programs, Dr. Karunaratne said.
