The people in the North Central Province will contribute for the
re-construction of the Mankulam railway station on the Vavuniya Jaffna
railway line.
North Central Provincial Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake
speaking at a specially convened meeting held at the Chief Ministry
recently revealed that the North Central Provincial Council has
undertaken the task to reconstruct the Mankulam railway station in the
process of clearing the railway passage for the operation of Yal Devi
train from South to the North under the Uthuru Vasanthaya program, since
the LTTE terrorism and its leaders have been already wiped out in the
Northern region.
The Provincial Council Ministers, members of the PC, members of
Pradeshiya Sabhas, Ministry Secretaries, Heads of Departments,
representatives of the NGO and public organisations attended the special
meeting where the methodologies to be adopted in the reconstruction
project were discussed.
"During the Poson season in the light of the prevailing peaceful and
enthusiastic situation in the country resulting from the liberation of
the country and the nation from the clutches of LTTE terrorism, it is
expected that around 2.5 million devotees would throng into Anuradhapura
and Mihintale.
"We have arranged to sell a specially designed flag among the
devotees to raise the Mankulam Railway station Reconstruction Fund" the
Chief Minister said.
He said further that those who are employed in the government and
private sectors in the North Central Province would be requested to
contribute at least a day's salary to the fund. |
