Appointed Chief Sanghanayake

Chief Incumbent of the Moratuwa Horethuduwa Sangikarama Purana Viharaya, Ven. Udugama Wimalakitti Thera, has been appointed as the Chief Sanghanayake of Raigam, Hewagam Pasyodun Koralas by the Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayaka Thera of the Malwatta Chapter recently.

Ven. Wimalakitti Thera (62) succeeded the Thera's teacher monk the late chief incumbent of Mawala Sri Gnanawimala Buddhist Centre at Angulana Station Road, Moratuwa Ven. Labugama Wimalatissa Thera who held the post earlier.

Founder of Horethuduwa Gnanawimala Foundation Ven. Wimalakitti Thera is also the President of the Panadura North Sasanarakshaka Mandalaya and the chief incumbent of the Horethuduwa Sangikaramaya, Gorakana Purana Kande Viharaya Wattalpola Siriniwasaramaya and Samanpura Buddhist centre and Head of the Dhamma schools affiliated to them.

Educated at the Vidyalankara Pirivena, Kelaniya and the Kelaniya University he held the post of Principal of several schools prior to retirement.
