New SLII president
Members of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute (SLII) elected Chartered
Insurer and Attorney-at- Law Deepthi Lokuarachchi as its President for
the year 2009/2010 at the annual general meeting held recently.

Lokuarachchi, an old boy of Trinity College Kandy holds a Bachelors
Degree in Law from the University of Colombo, and also holds the
Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Charted Insurance
Institute United Kingdom.
He has been a council member of the Institute for well over six years
and was the immediate Past Vice President prior to being elected to the
office of President.
Currently he is the Assistant Managing Director of Hayleys AIG
Insurance Co. Ltd., and has over 16 years of marketing experience in the
insurance industry.
SLII is the premier body that determines standards of conduct for
persons employed in the insurance industry and fosters insurance
education through various courses with the ultimate aim of enhancing
professionalism in the industry. Its membership is open to individuals
who have managerial experience with professional qualifications in
insurance.
The SLII also conducts examinations for the Charted Insurance
Institute U.K., The Insurance Institute of India, and offers many local
courses that have earned international repute and acceptance.
The student members have benefited immensely from these courses in
the recent past. It also conducts licensing examinations for insurance
agents under the new rules pertaining to enrolment and engagement of
insurance agents by insurance companies.
The other office-bearers elected are Vice President Sanjiv
Keerthiratne, Secretary Udeni Kiridena, Asst. Secretary Devaan Cooray,
Treasurer Thusitha Nandasiri and Suranjith Godagama, Pubudu Wimalaratne,
Asoka Sirisena, Thanuj Edward and Shani Ranasinghe and Indrani
Weerasinghe as Council Members. |
