Remains lying at Parliament today

Justice and Law Reforms Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda passed away on
Saturday at a private Hospital in Colombo. He had been under intensive
care for nearly two months.
His remains will lie at the Jayaratne Funeral Parlour till 9.00 am
today (1). The body will then be taken to Parliament to enable
Parliamentarians and the staff to pay their last respects from 9.30 am
to 11.30 a.m.
Thereafter the remains will be taken to his residence at Maitipe
Lane, Karapitiya, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha told the
Daily News yesterday. Funeral arrangements will be notified later.
Minister Dodangoda started his political career as the Baddegama SLFP
organiser and entered Parliament in 1983 contesting the Baddegama
electorate at a by-election.
In 1993, he was appointed Southern Province Chief Minister. He was
re-elected to Parliament in 1994.
He held the portfolios of Indigenous Medicine, Co-operatives,
Vocational Training, Local Government, Public Administration and Home
Affairs.
He was appointed Justice and Law Reforms Minister in 2005. Minister
Dodangoda leaves his wife and two sons. |
