Eleven terrorists killed

Troops on the hunt for Tigers who have been able to escape into the Eastern jungles, killed 11 LTTE terrorists yesterday in a confrontation near Kalawanchikudi, Batticaloa.

Military sources said that the attack had been carried out by Army Commandos yesterday morning in the jungles off Kalawanchikudi. During a subsequent search and clear operation in the area, troops had recovered 11 bodies of LTTE terrorists along with their weapons.

The weapons included five T56 weapons, 20 claymore mines weighing about 15kg each, two hand grenades, three anti-personnel mines and a stock of medical items.
