Correction and Clarifications:

WHO: Anti-Sri Lankan proposal defeated

With reference to our news item with the above title which appeared on page 1 in our issue of May 25, 2009 Embassy of Israel in Colombo has sent us a clarification.

It states that Israel never submitted a proposal to send an investigation team to Sri Lanka and in fact opposes such an idea. It also states that it did not oppose the appointment of Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva as the Chairman of the WHO Assembly.

“To the contrary, it unhesitatingly joined the consensus supporting the candidature,” said a press release issued by the Embassy.
