Voluntary doctors wanted

The Disaster Management Unit of the Health Ministry has called for the assistance of voluntary doctors who could serve for more than a week at the relief villages at Manik Farm in Vavuniya.

Pharmacist students want old system

Candidates who have registered themselves for the External Pharmacists examination under the old system are highly perturbed over the current moves by the authorities to restrict their privilege of sitting four times for the said examination, which they continue to enjoy upto date.

Sometime ago it was the Ceylon Medical Council that decided that a maximum of four times would be allowed for the candidate, they point out. They appeal to the authorities to abstain from resorting to any fresh moves that would change the status quo to their detriment.


Indonesian bazaar

The Indonesian Annual Bazaar organised by the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (Indonesian Women's Organization) will be held at the Indonesian Embassy premises at No. 400/50, Sarana Road, off Baudhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07 on Saturday May 30, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Indonesian food, souvenirs, batiks, handicraft, furniture and many other items will be on sale.


Underpass collapse kills man

A man was killed when the underpass collapsed in Kohombaladeniya, Galle along the Colombo-Matara road on Tuesday night.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said a pedestrian crossing the underpass was killed when it suddenly collapsed. "The incident occurred around 8.30 p.m.," he added.

Galle police are investigating.


Lecture

The program will commence on Sunday, May 31 with Rathibathul Jalaliya by Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (Falahi) and Y. M. Rafi. It will be conducted after Magrib prayers and will continue till Isha prayers. A religious lecture will also be conducted by Moulavi Al Haj M. T. Hilurudeen (Falahi) after Isha prayers.


The Sri Lanka Medical Association sponsored lecture on re-birth revelations through hypnotism in association with Daily News Medical Page Healthwatch will be held on Sunday, May 31 at the Lionel Memorial Auditorium at No. 6 Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The lecture will be by Consultant Clinical Hypnotist Dr. H. B. Jayasinghe MCGP (SL) MDCH (Lond.) MBs CH (UK).


Awards ceremony

The awards ceremony for senior employees of ICTAD together with the launching of 'Nimsara' magazine will be held at the auditorium of the ICTAD institution on May 29, at 2.00 p.m.
