WPC inaugural meeting today

The Western Provincial Council will hold its inaugural Council meeting today to elect a chairman, deputy chairman and first session of the Council will be held on June 4, Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said yesterday.

On the day of the first session Western Province Governor S. Alavi Mowlana will deliver the address outlining the policy framework of the newly elected Council.

He said the Council Ministers had submitted proposals to optimize on the human and physical resources of the Council to render a better service for the people of the Western Province and to overcome shortcomings experienced in the past, Ranatunga said.
