President directs Ministers to visit IDP villages

President Mahinda Rajapaksa had directed the Ministers to visit the
IDP welfare villages in Vavuniya and oversee the facilities being
provided to the IDPs and take steps to find out whether there were any
shortcomings, Trade Commerce and Cooperatives Minister Bandula
Gunawardhana visiting Vavuniya told the Daily News yesterday.
He said each day a Minister visited the IDP welfare villages for the
past two months and had been successful in seeing the progress made in
providing food and other essential services to over 200,000 IDPs housed
in these villages.
Yesterday Ports, Shipping, Aviation and Irrigation Minister Chamal
Rajapaksa had visited the IDP villages.
Minister Gunawardhana and Power and Energy Minister Mahindananda
Alutgamage also visited the IDP villages to study the progress of the
Lak Sathosa and Mini-Coops in addition to the five Lak Sathosa branches
already established in the welfare villages in Manik Farm, Cheddikulam,
Kathirgamar Puram.
