President Mahinda Rajapaksa had directed the Ministers to visit the IDP welfare villages in Vavuniya and oversee the facilities being provided to the IDPs and take steps to find out whether there were any shortcomings, Trade Commerce and Cooperatives Minister Bandula Gunawardhana visiting Vavuniya told the Daily News yesterday.

He said each day a Minister visited the IDP welfare villages for the past two months and had been successful in seeing the progress made in providing food and other essential services to over 200,000 IDPs housed in these villages.

Yesterday Ports, Shipping, Aviation and Irrigation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa had visited the IDP villages.
