Bridal glamour hits town

Bridal glamour will take to the hilt as the annual 'Bridal Fair' is poised to take over the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) on July 9 to 12. Brides and grooms-to-be will no doubt see this as the best opportunity to get tips and follow up with the latest trends of the era and make their special day never to be forgotten for themselves as well as for their friends and family.

The event is organized by Pico Events, an organization which functions with the SLECC and it will be the 13th year that Bridal Fair takes over the stage. "We pioneered the project and throughout the years it had developed and become one of the most awaited events in the annual calendar.

Many youth who are getting set for their nuptials, visit the fair and still more visit the event to check out products as well as to gain knowledge which will be of use at some point in their life," said Executive Director of Pico Events Shanthi Outschoorn.

Apart from stalls, a range of fashion shows and competitions are in store for visitors. They are able to obtain free advice on the best way to tackle their wedding plans and economical bridal packages are on offer.

"Advice on family planning is given free and we even provide a platform for upcoming beauticians to showcase their talent. There are insurance schemes from the soon-to-be-married couples and demonstrations on make up, table décor, bridal bouquets, bridal dressing and cake constructions will be on display. The whole place will be buzzing with activity from morning till night," she expressed.

In addition to these activities, some of the leading beauticians in the country as well as some foreign beauticians will take part in bridal fashion shows. Stunning Kandyan, Southern, Western and Hindu brides will take on the ramp not to mention a few surprises which will be in store for visitors.

"Students join in to get the feel of the competition before they are able to gain confidence to display their creations at much bigger competitions abroad. The judges always have handy tips to offer the participants. It is heartening to see that the event gets better and better each year," she concluded, adding that 'Bridal Fair' provides the ideal opportunity for small entrepreneurs to excel in their field.
