Supplying Next Department Store - UK presently:

MH International seeking expansion

MH International (Pvt) Ltd, a Sri Lankan company who is an exclusive supplier and manufacturer of metal trims to Next Department Store in UK is now looking at the possibility of approaching leading UK department stores.

The company supplying trims to Next Department stores and few other Italian brands in UK, is now looking at possibilities to supply trims and other garment accessories to Marks and Spencer, Gap, Tesco and other department stores. The company is also supplying all types of trims and other garment accessories to UK department stores from China, said its Chairman/Managing Director Kingley De Silva.

At present, the company’s sales have dropped by 50 percent to 60 percent due to the global financial crisis in UK and other markets in the world.

The company is optimistic that most of the markets will recover soon for them to expand their business operations in the UK and other regions, he said.

“With the dawn of peace and normalcy, we could promote Sri Lanka as a hub for garments and accessories in the region, because of our high quality and skills”, he said.

He said that due to the global financial crisis in the USA and a number of European markets, it is said that the demand for children’s wear have been increased during the recent past, the reason being the demand for men’s and women’s apparel have come down due to manifold reasons.

De Silva said the company will also set up another apparel accessory manufacturing plant in Bangladesh shortly to penetrate other overseas markets in the future.

Currently, the company’s main local customers are Brandix, Hydramani, Orient Garment and several other factories in Sri Lanka and the company is also looking at the possibility to capture the local market as well. The company is a 100 percent Sri Lankan owned entity, operating in many countries including China, India, Hong Kong and Bangladesh, manufacturing different types of trims and accessories for garments.
