No fear of swine flu from eating local pork
Animal Production and Health Department Director General Swarna
Herath said pork can be eaten without getting infected with swine flu.
An Information Department release said Sri Lankans can consume pork
without getting infected with the A/H1N1 virus known as 'swine flu'.
The Animal Production and Health Department has stopped importing
swine, pork and pork related food to promote the national swine
production industry in Sri Lanka. It has also given instructions to
dispose waste from flights in a proper way.
There is no possibility of swine flu spreading among animals in Sri
Lanka. However suspected animals should be sent to the Veterinary
Research Institute. |
