'Defeating terrorism a great deed'

The concise Tripitaka Compilation Board in a press release has thanked the President, Defence Secretary, Security Forces Chiefs, IGP, Civil Security Chief and all war heroes for eliminating terrorism and ensuring a peaceful nation for people of all communities to live without fear and involved their blessings on them for accomplishing this task.

The release issued under the signature of Board Members led by Most Ven. Weligama Gnanaratana Mahanayake Thera of the Amarapura Sri Dhammarakkshita Nikaya and the Most Ven. Davuldena Gnanissara Supreme Mahanayake Thera of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha said the manner in which the war heroes defeated terrorism through a humanitarian operation without succumbing to the pressures of local and foreign conspirators truly reflected the heroic deeds accomplished by our ancient heroes.

As the President noted during his address to the nation from Parliament it is the responsibility of all citizens to join hands and steer the motherland which had been safeguarded through great sacrifice towards development.

It is also our duty to rebuild the lives of innocent Tamil civilians deprived of a livelihood by terrorism who are now accommodated in welfare camps.

The Board would request the Government to re-settle people in all parts of the country so that communalism would not raise its head once again and act with caution and care to overcome the machinations of local and international separatist forces.
