Victory celebrations and parade

The nation’s long-awaited victory over terrorism will be commemorated on June 3, 2009 in a special parade at Galle Face Green to be attended by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the commanders of the Three Forces, the IGP and the Civil Defence Force Director General.

Service personnel and commanding officers of the Security Forces who were engaged in direct operations in the North and East will take part in this historic event which will be marked by a special military parade.

The celebration will also feature several cultural events.
