Lessons on humanity

Two thrilling teledramas recently began unspooling on Rupavahini. Vimalaratne Adhikari and Nalin Mapitiya’s latest teleplay titled Sakviththo and Mohangi Ranganath’s creation Yasa Isuru are both aimed at unfolding tales based on themes of man’s destruction through avarice and deception.

Sakviththo

Comprising of 100 episodes and a story which will keep you guessing all the way, Vimalaratne Adhikari and Nalin Mapitiya’s joint direction Sakviththo is a study of the psychology of some of the characters living in the society. It also explores themes like the parent-children bondage and brings forth an unseen side of life before the viewers.

Avarice has no bounds.

Pavan and Ayesha in Sakviththo

Malkanthi and Suminda in Yasa Isuru

The story is based on this theme when a youth deceives not only a father who believes him to be his son who had returned after a long period abroad but also engages in a game of deception with his won mother, fiancée, friends, employees and several other girls he encounters on the way to his path to luxury.

Yasa Isuru

Yasa Isuru is about the results of excessive greed for worldly goods. It sheds light on the fact that misers cannot live with joy and harmony in a society. Too much of love for wealth not only disrupts your own lifestyle it has harmful effects on the whole society including your children and loved ones.

Though this seems to be the era of mega teledramas and stories based on taking revenge against injustice, director Mohanji Ranganath said that he wished to present the audience with a creation which is interesting as well as meaningful, far from the new trends which achieve popularity each year.

He said that he wished his creation to have an impact on the society so that people can learn certain morals through an entertaining story.

Yasa Isuru features Suminda Sirisena, Malkanthi Jayasinghe, Jagath Chamila, Sanath Chandrasekara, Semini Iddamalgoda, Irasha Lakmali, Jehan Srikantha and others. The script is penned by Athula Nishantha Kumara while Isha Yashodara Ranganath had directed music for Yasa Isuru.
