SLT gives priority to war heroes

If not for the selfless sacrifice of the security forces, the victory and freedom that we enjoy today would only be a dream. Thus, we are determined to show our appreciation in whatever we can to make their lives better, Chairperson Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Mrs. Leisha de Silva Chandrasena, said.

SLT joined hands with the people of Sri Lanka to salute the war heroes for their selfless sacrifice and contribution towards freeing our nation from the cruel grip of terrorism. As a token of appreciation, the company has decided to afford priority status to those of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Police and Civil Defence Force in all their business transactions with SLT.

Today, Sri Lankans are able to enjoy true freedom after many decades. The war which relentlessly dragged on for over 30 years and considered unstoppable has finally been won.

This is definitely a cause for jubilation. The SLT company is of the opinion that the security forces should be given the salute of the nation and the due respect they deserve.

These war heroes have voluntarily sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation and done their utmost for the people of Sri Lanka, giving no thought to their families and loved ones and comfort zones at home.

SLT would provide priority service devoid of any trouble or inconvenience to members of the security forces.

This will eliminate the need to stand in long queues when paying bills or to obtain services from the company in the future. Upon producing identification, they will be given utmost priority and, prompt and courteous attention at all SLT Teleshops and Tele-bureaus as well as Regional Telecom Offices countrywide.

In addition to this, some employees of the SLT have come forward voluntarily and contributed towards building a house for a war hero recently.

SLT is proud of this initiative taken by the employees towards such a worthy cause.

The company wishes to assure these heroes that they are ready and willing to help in whatever way possible to make their lives brighter and happier.
