Kingswood, St. Anthony's clash today

Will the defending schools rugby league champions go on the rampage
or will they be stopped in their tracks when they take on St. Anthony's
College in their schools under 20 Division one rugby tournament match to
be played at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy today with the kick off at
4.30 p.m.
Kingswoodians led by stand off Roshan Weeraratne have carried
everything before them this season. They beat Mahanama College 81-10,
beat St. Joseph's College 51-8 and Dharmaraja College 55-3, thus
amassing 187 points in their three games.
The Anthonians on the other hand have fared dismally losing to Royal
College 39-6 and to Trinity College 49-10. But with the introduction of
Strategist Priyantha Gunaratne who had earlier coached for 7 years, they
put an improved display against St. Joseph's College losing by the
narrow margin of 24-27 in a game which could have gone either way.
It has been raining heavily in the hill capital and the ground
conditions should be wet and slippery and not conducive to fast open
rugby.
It will be interesting to see how their hard running players like
Roshan Weeraratne, Mohammed Afsal, Mohammed Fazly and full back Rajitha
Sansoni fare as so far they have put up with some sizzling runs and some
of them from mid field which have ended up in tries. |
