Former Trinity College, Kandy Sports Club, Havelocks Sports Club and Sri Lanka Fall back Shafi Jainudeen will be the Chief Guest at the first leg of the 65th Bradby Shield encounter between Trinity College and Royal College which will be played at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy on May 30 (Saturday) at 4.45 p.m.

Shafi Jainudeen is one of the finest ruggerites to come out of the portals of Trinity College who are the thoroughbreds of the local rugby scene and famous for their run and pass game. Shafi Jainudeen was more than a full back and often joined the three quarters to form the overlap which often ended in tries. He was also a place kicker with dead accuracy and a drop goal expert.

Shafi Jainudeen played for Trinity College for four years and captained it in 1969 and that year they won the Bradby Shield by the comfortable aggregate of 17-3. Trinity won the first leg 8-0 and improved on their aggregate winning the second leg 9-3.
