FORUT refutes allegations

FORUT Resident Representative in Sri Lanka Ranveig Tveitves has sent us the following response to our news item “Sour grapes for Norwegian NGO” which appeared on this paper yesterday.

The response reads as, “We deny the allegations made in the Sri Lankan print and electronic news media, claiming that I had ordered the removal of the Sri Lankan National flag which had been hoisted in our premises on Tuesday.

We at FORUT believe that a National flag should always be hoisted after sunrise and taken down before sunset, as it is disrespectful to keep a National flag hoisted after darkness falls, hence the flag was removed.

“Our training manuals which are widely used as a training tool among child clubs and pre-schools at community level and the Samurdhi Authority, elaborates on the use of the National flag, which we believe should be adhered to by our own organisation.”
