Promotions in Sri Lanka Principals' Service
The cabinet has approved memorandum submitted as the Minister of
Education A.D. Susil Premajayantha to make recruitments and to grant
promotions to the officers engaged in service and who have fulfilled the
statutory requirements by filling all vacancies disregarding the 60
percent and 40 percent limits imposed for seniority and merit.
The Cabinet also approved to delegate authority to the Education
Ministry Secretary to grant promotions indicated above until the Public
Service Commission is appointed.
MoU between Labour institutions in SL and India
The cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Labour Relations
and Man Power Minister Athauda Seneviratne to enter into a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) between VV Giri National Labour Institute, India and
the National Institute of Labour Studies, Sri Lanka.
The objective of the National Institute of Labour studies, inter-alia,
are implementing Workers' Education Programs with the collaboration of
local and foreign Institutes to conduct seminars, workshops, conferences
on labour studies, to work in close collaboration with Institutions and
Organizations, both national and foreign with similar objectives, and
broaden the knowledge base on labour issues by carrying out research and
studies.
Sri Lankan Consulate office to Chengdu-China
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Foreign Affairs
Minister, Rohitha Bogollagama for the establishment of a Consulate
General in Chengdu with immediate effect with the required staff.
The decision was taken to open Consulate in Chengdu with the
objective of attending to promotion of investment, tourism and trade and
also to provide consular assistance in the Central and Western China
while the Consulate in Shanghai is looking for Sri Lanka's interests in
Eastern China.
Procurement of Consulting Service to Township Development Component
The cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Urban Development
and Sacred Area Development Minister for the award of the contract for
the Consulting Services of the Township Development Component of the
Greater Colombo Urban Transport Development Project (Outer Circular
Highway project) to M/s Oriental Consultants Co., Limited of Japan and
their local associate M/s Greentech Consultants (Pvt) Limited subject to
the financial ceilings of Japanese Yen 201.6 million and LKR 145 million
and entering into contract accordingly.
Recognition of Certificates issued to Seafarers between SL and Japan
The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Ports and
Aviation, Minister Chamal Rajapaksa to sign the Undertaking concerning
Recognition of Certificates issued to seafarers, between Sri Lanka and
Japan.
Additionally, the approval was granted to empower the Director
General of Merchant Shipping, Ministry of Ports and Aviation to sign the
above Undertaking.
