Golden Key Case:
Deputy chairmen produced before magistrate

Three more Deputy Chairmen of the Golden Key Credit Card Group were
yesterday produced before the Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate and
Additional District Judge Harsha Sethunga by the CID in connection with
the alleged Golden Key Credit Card fraud. They were remanded till June
18.
The Judge yesterday refused applications for bail in respect of the
other suspects who had been remanded in connection with the alleged
Golden Key Credit Card fraud and remanded them till June 18.
The Judge reserved the order in respect of Chairman Lalith Kotalawela
for June 18, as his bail application is pending before the Colombo High
Court.
The Judge directed the Prisons authorities to produce the suspects on
June 14 to extend their remand orders. Deputy Solicitor General Sarath
Jayamanna, who led the prosecuting team assisted by Inspector Rohan
Misbula of the CID objected to the suspects being released on bail.
Some of the suspects already had planned to leave the country.
If the suspects were granted bail they will jump bail and leave the
country, the DSG Sarath Jayamanna emphasised. President's Counsel M.L.M.
Ameen, President's Counsel Rienzie Arasacularatne, Clinton Dabare, Nalin
Ladduwahetty, Anil Silva, U.R. de Silva, Ransiri Fernando, Anuja
Premaratne, Ravi Mathugama, Buddhika Jayasinghe appeared for the
suspects submitted leangthy submissions and moved court to grant bail
for their suspects.
Senior Defence Counsel gave an undertaking to court that their
clients will never leave the country without the permissions of the
Court.
The case will be called again on June 14.
