Chamber of Small Industry congratulates President

Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry President Aloy Jayawardene and all its 300 members hail the victory of the President, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Services Commanders, Police Chief and the Armed Forces for liberating our Island from the LTTE.

President Rajapaksa, you are the "King" of Sri Lanka from today having saved Mother Lanka from the war that has ruined the economy of Sri Lanka with the terrorist war that has lasted for over a quarter century.

Accelerating the rehabilitation of IDPs is important and we need assistance of the International Community for rehabilitating these people.

Majority of the European countries were of the view that this war is simply an ethnic conflict and this cannot be resolved.

Today we have proved them wrong. Foreign leaders who showed sympathy towards Prabhakaran and the LTTE, have now realised that peace was obtained through the sacrifices of our heroic Armed Forces and everything possible was done to ensure the safety of civilians and rescue them from LTTE terror. With this great victory of President Rajapaksa we can now look forward towards a peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka especially for our future generation.

It's time that the UNP join hands with our President to develop the economy of our country. We appeal to them to shed their differences and join hands for the country's prosperity.

Now that we have won the war against the Tigers we have now to win over the Tamil people in the first instance. Our diplomatic community will have to win over the International Community, India in particular. This would be possible only if the Government comes out with credible constitutional proposals that would make the minority Tamils equal partners in the governance of our country.

Our President should have the vision to rebuild this Nation and Country, not along ethnic lines but to create a true Sri Lankan identity and end confrontational politics that has plagued this country for the past sixty years.
