New leaks in Bolivia terror case
Bolivia: A key witness in the investigation of a terrorist plot
foiled on April 16 in Bolivia said the gang was planning to kill
cardinal Julio Terrazas and government minister Juan Ramon Quintana.
According to Cambio daily, suspect Ignacio Villa has confessed
extremists headed by Bolivian-Croatian Eduardo Rozsa Flores, who was
killed during the police operation at Las Americas hotel in Santa Cruz,
had plans to destabilize and divide the country. The plans, he noted,
also included the assassination of President Evo Morales and his cabinet
members during an April 13 meeting in Titicaca Lake. Meanwhile, Cesar
Navarro, president of the special deputiesA' commission investigating
the case, pointed out Villas also referred to death threats against a
Santa Cruz legislator.
VillaA's statements also corroborated Rozsa FloresA' relation with
Santa Cruz businesspeople and leaders, Navarro indicated.
Attorney Marcelo Sosa said that Santa Cruz mayor Ruben Costas, and
the former president of the civic committee, Branko Marinkovic, are also
linked to the violent plans.
