The financial situation of Sri Lanka is good said Local Government
and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon in Kurunegala
recently.
He was addressing a meeting after opening the new People’s Bank
branch in the Kurunegala Municipal Council.
Tennakoon said due to the world economic depression Sri Lanka was
facing a challenge, but the financial situation in our country had been
in a stable position and the Government had been facing the situation
successfully.
He said most of the private banks are very much interested in earning
profits at the end of the year equally they should be able to provide
the customers an efficient service.
He said that he was very happy to open a new bank branch in a
developing town like Kurunegala. The People’s Bank has intended to
provide maximum services by starting new credit facilities for its
customers.
He said the People’s Bank has 6,000 customer service centers
islandwide.
