President crowned the motherland with glory - SLFP

The SLFP yesterday extended its warmest greetings and good wishes to the new path of freedom the Sri Lanka motherland has started after defeating cruelty, violence and barbarism.

The party in a press release issued yesterday said it would make use of this opportunity to thank Commander-in-Chief President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Armed Forces chief’s including General Sarath Fonseka and the Director General of Civil Security Force and the war heroes who enabled the country to gain this historic victory and involve the blessings of the Noble Triple Gem on them.

The release signed by SLFP General Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena said there is no proper simile to explain the sense of pride gained through this victory.

No one can assess the value of the lives lost on account of the LTTE’s killer culture which began with the assassination of Jaffna Mayor Alfred Duraiappa in 1975. LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran who spurned the democratic process of solving problems through negotiations stuck to his killer culture spelling destruction to the motherland for nearly three decades.

Sri Lankan people who are disciplined and gifted with moral and spiritual values have been forced to rejoice at the death of an individual today due to the experience of barbarism bequeathed to Sri Lanka and the world by LTTE leaders including Prabhakaran.

The President and the heroic Security Forces had been able to destroy the myth of LTTE terrorist invincibility built up in the world over the years. The President had been able to crown the motherland with glory by destroying the edifice of LTTE barbarism within a matter of three years.

The SLFP is proud to be led by a leader in the calibre of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is dubbed modern Dutugemunu. The example the President set to the whole world by liberating the country and nation from terrorism without giving into the local and international insidious forces will go down in history in letters of gold.

It is hoped that all Sri Lankans including SLFPers while enjoying the pride of victory would rally round to support and strengthen the Presidents program of work aimed towards the country’s welfare. The SLFP while recalling with honour the dedication shown by the President and the war heroes to usher in freedom and peace to the motherland salutes all patriotic forces who supported this endeavour.

The SLFP firmly believers that people in the North and South would positively respond to the President’s call and rally round a single flag to rebuild the country.

The SLFP would also request the small minority who did not show a sense of patriotism to realise the truth and join hands in rebuilding the nation.

The present era which performed its duty by the State leaders, war heroes and ordinary citizens who lost their lives on account of terrorism, will go down in history in golden letters.
