Three Forces Commanders promoted

President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces yesterday granted promotions to the three Forces Commanders to the next rank in recognition of their dedicated and committed service to free the country from the scourge of terrorism , a Presidential Secretarial release said.

Accordingly, Army Commander Lt. Gen Sarath Fonseka has been promoted to the rank of General, Navy Commender Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda has been promoted to the rank of Admiral. Air Force Commander Air Vice Marshal Roshan Goonathilake has also been promoted to the Air Chief Marshal rank with immediate effect.

General Sarath Fonseka, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonathilake become the first Sri Lankan Armed Forces Commanders to hold four star ranks while in active service.
