Death of SLFP founder member Lionel Gunasekara

The death occurred of Lionel Gunasekara a former Ratnapura District Parliamentarian and founder member of the SLFP at the Colombo National Hospital Accident Service, May 15 morning. He was 81.

Gunasekara represented the Kalawana electorate in Parliament from 1960 to 1965.

He is the father of Mrs. Anoma Weliwita, Media Co-ordinating Officer to the First Lady and father-in-law of Rohan Weliwita, Co-ordinating Secretary to the President.

His remains are lying at his residence at No. 55, 29A, Udumulla Road, 1st Gemunu Lane, Battaramulla. Funeral takes place at the Borella General Cemetery on May 20.
