Kandyans celebrate defeat of terrorism

There was large scale lighting of fire crackers which temporarily held up traffic in Kandy town as people rejoiced when the news spread that LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and several others were killed yesterday.

Crackers were lit at important points in the town.

Banners also came up in many establishments praising the President and the Security Forces for freeing the country after nearly 30 years of terror.
