Tiger leadership has now fallen into its own grave

Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda, issuing a Media Release has stated that the Tiger leadership including Prabhakaran committed suicide a long time ago and have now fallen into their own graves dug by themselves. He adds that he wishes the defeat of the LTTE leadership to be a liberation collectively achieved by the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities of this country.

The Minister pointed out that the previous Governments when in power failed to put the Tiger leadership into their rightful place six feet deep in the soil when they went on a killing spree brutally murdering Tamil political leaders, members of brother organisations and innocent Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim civilians.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa could well discern the problems of the Tamil speaking people and those of the Tigers a part, a situation emerged where the Tiger leadership had to sink deep into their own graves dug by themselves.

At every time an opportunity surfaced for peaceful settlement to the political aspirations of the Tamil People, his insatiable desire for war unceremoniously kicked out all such attempts, the Minister adds.

The invitation extended for negotiations by President Rajapaksa no sooner than he became the President was rejected without any consideration whatsoever by the Tiger leadership and it is from that day, they started digging their own graves the Minister said.

At the peace talks held in Geneva initiated by the Government of the President the Tiger leadership left the negotiating tables on flimsy grounds without paying even an iota of consideration for the importance of the discussion.

Minister whilst thanking immensely all the stakeholders of the victory achieved, states that it is the duty of all the people to support and strengthen the hands of President Rajapaksa who tirelessly work for winning the hearts and minds of the Tamil speaking people of our country.

The Minister also says that the way to win the hearts and minds of the Tamil people is to work hard for winning their political rights, and that he is with the idea that the President would be taking necessary steps to cater to this requirement.

He said the President has the ability to defeat the Tigers militarily as well as to win the Tamil speaking people politically. He also says that a duty is cast upon all of us to redeem the Tamil speaking people from their illusion towards the Tigers and to direct them towards a society of peace and cohabitation where all of us can live in this country as one nation.

Minister finally states that the fall of the Tigers is the rise of the people belonging to all the communities and that this is embodied in the political package of the President.
