Historical achievement

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has carved a niche for himself in the history of Sri Lanka by defeating LTTE terrorism which plagued the country for well over 30 years.

This single achievement by the President ably supported by tri-forces is a record by world standards in the areas of defeating terrorism, Minister of Power and Energy W. D. J. Seneviratne has stated.

People should be grateful to our valiant soldiers over their dedication.

We also must pay tribute to all the forces, police and the political authority for eliminating terrorism which plagued the country’s economy and culture for well over 30 years.

Countries like China, Russia, Japan also must be commended for their cooperation extended to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will also gain strength to develop the country and bring about unity as one nation after this great victory over terrorism.
