World history will be re-written

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has laid the foundation to build a new Sri Lanka by defeating LTTE terrorism and vested foreign interests, Water Supply Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.

This outstanding victory achieved by the President can never be erased from the records of history written on Sri Lanka.

The credit should also go to Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Commanders of tri-forces, IGP and all valiant soldiers who made this great achievement possible.

It is highly opportune to say that this day is the great day of our achieving independence after the Portuguese in 1505. It is also time now for us to devote ourselves for developing the country from now onward.
