Indian voters reject:

Political parties aiding terrorism

The people of India through the recently concluded general election has rejected the political parties that was involved in aiding and abetting separatism and terrorism. The Indians have endorsed the central Government's policy on Sri Lanka.

The Indian National Congress has been given a free hand to take decisions without the support from extremist and opportunistic political elements when it comes to the problems of national and regional importance.

The Congress led UPA were able to secure 259 out of 543 seats after 25 years at the recently concluded general election while the main Opposition Bharathiya Janatha Party gained only 116 seats. This a remarkable achievement in the history of India as the Congress led alliance fell short of only 15 seats to achieve the majority in Parliament.

The leaders in Tamil Nadu threatened the centre to force the Government of Sri Lanka to stop the mission to free innocent civilians from the clutches of terrorists.

Certain political parties launched massive campaigns in support of the LTTE while others were trying to rock the Indian Government by threating to resign from the coalition.

The main political parties that openly supported the LTTE in Tamil Nadu have suffered a humiliating defeat. The people of Tamil Nadu rejected the political parties varying their policies to gain narrow and petty political gains.

AIADMK Leader Jeyaram Jayalalitha who insisted the centre to send the Indian Army to Sri Lanka and justified the terrorist activities carried out by the LTTE has gained only 09 out of 39 seats from Tamil Nadu while DMK has secured only 07. The MDMK has also been reduced to only one seat.

MDMK Leader Vaiko recently said Tamil Nadu would be turned into a blood bath, if Sri Lanka was allowed to continue the war on terrorism.

The people of India has clearly indicated that terrorism wherever it is, should be eradicated and the countries fighting terrorism should be assisted.

The Indian government has taken a number of measures to wipe out terrorism from India and the region. The economic nerve centers in India were attacked by terrorists last year and the Indian policy against terrorism which took roots in the South Asian region after the USSR disintegrated has remained unchanged.
