All civilians freed
The humanitarian mission launched to liberate
civilians taken hostage by the LTTE for months reached an end last
afternoon in Mullaitivu with the last batch of civilians arriving in
Government controlled areas through the Vadduvakkal causeway towards
Mullaitivu by 2.30 p.m yesterday whilst troops surrounded the last
batch of Tiger cadres inside a less than half square kilometre
stretch in the No Fire Zone.
Troops foil Tigerís final attempt
Troops operating in the western edge of the
Nanthikadal lagoon yesterday foiled what was described by the troops
as the final attempt by the LTTE to escape towards the jungles in
Mullaitivu and Puthukudiyiruppu South killing more than 80 Tiger
cadres who tried to breach the Security Forcesí defences in the
early hours of yesterday.
Torture chamber supervised by Prabhakaran found
One More heavily-fortified LTTE torture-chamber
cum prison complex, run inside a three-room house behind the
Mullaivaikkal (Vellamullavaikkal) sub-post office, was among the
latest finds made by heroic 58 Division troops on Saturday as they
moved further in.
