Ban on ICL cricketers to be lifted

Sri Lanka Cricket announced the decision made to grant amnesty to the individuals who have been a part of the ICL, which has been a controversial issue in the cricket world.

The cricketers, umpires and the support staff namely Mavan Atapattu, Upul Chandana, Avishka Gunawardena, Russel Arnold, Saman Jayantha and Ranmore Martinez are in question to name a few.

The SLC will follow the pertinent ICC guideline, which state that any cricketer or official who participated in an unauthorised event is supposed to undergo a 'cooling' period of 3 months before they are given opportunity to play or take up assignments at the international level.

However, the individual will be able to play/be associated with domestic cricket during this period subject to sever all ties with ICL and formally communicate their desire to return to the SLC fold. The players and officials in question have been given time till 15th June, 2009 to communicate same to SLC officials.
