Taps go dry in Colombo today
There will be an interruption of water supply to a number of areas in
the Colombo city for 24 hours from 9 a.m. today to 9 a.m. tomorrow to
facilitate urgent repairs to the main supply line at the Maligakanda
reservoir premises and at Havelock Town, said the National Water Supply
and Drainage Board in a press release issued yesterday.
The areas affected are Colombo Fort, Pettah, Slave Island, Union
Place, Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya, Wellawatte, Kirillapone, Poorvarama
Road, Havelock Town, Thimbirigasyaya, Pamankada, Narahenpita, Borella,
Sahashrapura, Maradana, Maligawatte, Cinnamon Gardens, Kotahena,
Grandpass, Maha Vidyala Mawatha, Central Road, First Church Road,
Wolfendhal Street, Ginthupitiya Street, Andivel Street, Vivekananda
Hill, Keselwatte, Hulftsdorp Street, Stace Road, Layards Broadway,
Bloemendhal Road, Mahawatta, and all by-lanes connected to these
streets, Kolonnawa Petroleum Corporation, Government Factory, Stanley
Power Station, Wellampitiya, Sedawatta, Wennawatta, Kotuwila and
Kittanpawwa.
Consumers are advised to store water in advance to avoid
inconvenience. The NWSDB regrets any inconvenience caused to consumers
on account of the interruption. |
