Dairy chilling centre in Karaliyadda


Livestock Development Minister C. B. Rathnayake and Chief Minister of Central Province Sarath Ekanayake inaugurating the centre.

A new dairy chilling centre was opened in Karaliyadda, Kandy by Livestock Development Minister C. B. Rathnayake and Chief Minister of Central Province Sarath Ekanayake recently. The centre belongs to Milco.

The capacity of the chilling machine which is installed in this centre is 2,000 litres. They hope to put up another machine of this capacity in this centre.

Milco company collects 1,500 litres of dairy per a day in Ududumbara area. Their aim is to collect 4,000 litres per day in near future. This new chilling centre is helpful in uplifting the living conditions of the dairy families in the area. The Milco company provides good prices, organize training programs, gives technical knowledge, arrange loan facilities, supply animal foods and medicine at low prices and gives treatments for animals thus benefitting the dairy families of the area.
