Dambana to be made model village

Dambana, the village of the Adivasi (Veddah) community in Mahiyangana will be transformed into a model village under the Jathika Saviya Gama Neguma Program. The development work of this village will be launched by Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa at a ceremony held at the village today (May 16).

Nation Building Minister Jagath Pushpakumara will also be present on the occasion.

The development work will be undertaken without harming the traditions and culture of the Adivasi community as part of a program undertaken to solve their problems as instructed by the President.

Already, rehabilitation work on the Kiramanagal Kandura Wewa is under way with funds provided by the Sri Lanka Sammurdhi Authority.
