New welfare village for IDPs

A new welfare village has being built on a 1000 acre site along the Mannar Road at Parayanakulam for the new IDPs as well as for those who are temporarily sheltered in schools.

Already 10,000 semi-permanent houses had been built in this new welfare village.

New roads, electricity, water and sanitation facilities are provided to the new welfare village, Disaster Relief and Resettlement Minister Rishard Bathiutheen told the Daily News yesterday.
