Anuradhapura ready for Poson

The Anuradhapura annual poson festival officially begins on June 4 and will continue till June 10 on the theme "Let's work in peace and harmony".

A special meeting to discuss arrangements was recently held at the Anuradhapura district secretariat chaired by Venerable Nugetenne Pannananda Nayaka thera, the chief incumbent of Sambuddha Jayanthi temple.

The 2009 poson full moon day falls on June 7. The one week traditional Poson pirith chanting in Mahamevunawa will commence on June 3 night after water is brought from Tisawewa in procession from Isurumuniya Raja Maha Vihara.
